It is IMAZIC's first released game first introduced in 2002.〔http://www.imazic.com/eng/company_history.htm〕 ''Turf Battles'' takes place within the world of Fomalhaut, years after a major war. Originally published under HyperEngines LLC, but the operation team was actually based in Bangalore, India, a company known as TurfbattleGames Pvt Ltd which in turn was a subsidiary of QIXO.com an airfare search engine company. Mr.Daniel Ko, CEO of Qixo announced the open beta of TB on around September 2005, forming a subsidiary company exclusively for game operations. Due to many technical issues the game ultimately failed and TurfbattleGames closed its operations on mid-2008. However, due to popular player support, the title was picked up for the American audience by Aeria Games and Entertainment. Aeria Games and Entertainment announced ''Turf Battles'' on December 9, 2008. After three Closed Betas, Turf Battles has gone into a final Beta Stress Test which moved into an Open Beta.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Turf Battles Begins Beta Stress Test Phase )〕 On June 18, 2010 Aeria Games closed down the Turf Battles servers citing "over a year of continued issues (old and new). (Aeria Games) have been working with the developer through these difficulties, but the efforts of both teams have not been able to completely eradicate the problems facing Turf Battles. Fewer and fewer people have been logging in." In 2014, an independent development team "Eonic Gaming" purchased the rights to Sephiroth. They have named the project Turf Battles: Triumphus and are currently in Alpha Testing, however this is reserved for the development team for now. The server's will hopefully be up and running for the public late 2014, early 2015, it will mark the revival of Turf Battles English. They will be developing based on the original HyperEngine LLC system, including the Island PK system.
